Blown-in Insulation

Yvon Insulation are insulation experts (including spray foam insulation), and we utilize two types of blown-in insulation products in Toronto, Rexdale, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke and other areas nearby, each with their own unique properties and applications:

Blown-in fiberglass insulation

One of the most effective products for increased thermal performance, blown-in fiberglass insulation has many features which make it an outstanding choice for residential or commercial insulation projects:

  • Does not shrink
  • Moisture resistant
  • Does not burn
  • Insect repellent

Blown-in fiberglass insulation provides a consistent layer of insulation for areas such as attics which can help decrease energy costs due to heat loss during winter months (especially in frigid climates like Toronto and other areas of Southern Ontario). It also has the effect of removing attic heat that has accumulated during summer months. Approximately 30% of your energy costs can be reduced if your home is properly insulated, and taking a large amount of stress off your cooling and heating system.

Blown-in cellulose insulation

Comprised mostly of shredded newspapers and various chemicals, blown-in cellulose insulation has a similar R-value (the industry system by which the effectiveness of insulating materials is labelled) as blown-in fiberglass insulation. Blown-in cellulose insulation is treated for fire retardancy thus increasing fire resistance by 20-55% (if it does burn it does not release toxic chemicals). Blown-in cellulose insulation is great for insulating:

  • Oddly shaped cavities
  • Around wires or electrical boxes
  • Around pipes

Blown-in cellulose insulation has the tendency to easily flow and surround what it is insulating, and because of its density is often a better air tight insulator and can save enormously on energy costs for commercial and residential owners in and around Toronto.
